I for one prefer heat over cold any old day. It's just the way I was wired. Now I must train my children to not open windows or turn on the fireplace when the air is running.
I was relishing in the joy of this momentous occasion...
when I opened the garage door...
to find this critter.

EEK!
EEEWWW.
Yuck.
I think it's furry.
And staring at me.
Dear Lord.
Why oh why do these 8 legged creatures have to exist?
Is it related to the tarantula family?
Disgusting.
(Chills up my spine.)
Yes, I'm a wimp.
And going to have nightmares for sure.
We need an exterminator.
I love summer, I love summer, I love summer...
Those are just a few of the thoughts that came to mind in the first 30 seconds I saw this guy.
What thoughts pop into your head?
Oh, btw...Little Man came to my rescue and saved this hairy thing from a vicious murder.
Oh god that's horrifying! Ugh it looks so big and fuzzy. I hate it.
ReplyDeleteOHMAHGAH WHY WASN'T IT KILLLLLLEEDDDDD????
ReplyDeleteI'm never going outside again.
Creepy Crawly! Does it JUMP?
ReplyDeleteActually, my first thought is that the critter looks like my Uncle's pet taurantuala. It used to scare me as a child. I've made peace with it since his is caged. Finding one would freak me out. I don't even like the daddy long leg spiders.
ReplyDeleteIT'S HUGE!!!!!!!!!! AND HAIRY!!!!!!!!!!! You are lucky to have a "Little Man" in your family. I would've viciously murdered it.
ReplyDeleteFor some odd reason I put my feet up in my chair after seeing this!!!
ReplyDeleteOh I wouldn't of saved that sucker! I woulda smacked him upside the head good and hard!!!
That is huge and ugly!!! and I am usually not that afraid of spiders (I'm the spider remover in the family) Welcome to summer though! We are still waiting, rather impatiently.
ReplyDeleteNext time make Little Man bring a quarter to put in the photo so we can have an even better reference to it's gigantic size. I would've flipped.
ReplyDeleteEEk! Is right! That would have scared me to death.
ReplyDeleteBut, cracking up that you stopped to take a picture of it! LOL!
Could someone explain to me why a logical human being, normally rational and sane and several hundred times bigger than this furry critter, is moved to scream and murder by the presence of a spider? Scary movies have a lot to answer for I say. On the world count today I doubt many humans were killed by spiders, but I'm thinking the spider population took a hammering... Well done little man.
ReplyDeletePS - fantastic photo!
ReplyDeleteThat thing is HUGE! Oh no no no no no!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the swing by on my blog. I love that you self-assuredly proclaim your blog yours and for yourself. Makes me feel empowered to keep writing. Thank you for that.
ReplyDeleteMy first thing I thought when I saw your spider is, where on earth did that thing escape from and exactly how big was it. I hate spiders and yet I am the one who diligently tries to sweep them outside instead of killing them.
Spiders dont normally freak me out, but OHHHH MYYYY... that looks like it can carry someone off to a cave & eat them in one bite!
ReplyDeleteYUCK!!!! It got up to about 90 where I am too, but I did not have any icky critter sightings! Ew!
ReplyDeletei agree! i prefer hot over cold any day, however, after our 4th summer in the south i'm still trying to get use to the humidity. we didn't have that back in CA : ). thanks for your sweet comment on my blog. i appreciate that. hope you come back again. followin you now so i will definitely be back!
ReplyDeleteUhhh - I'm glad we don't have spiders this size in Germany....
ReplyDeleteoh.my.goodness!!!
ReplyDeleteWe don't really have spiders like that in Northern Michigan! We have daddy long legs and those things freak me out lol.
That is so gross. Where did that thing come from? Just thinking about it creeps me out. Glad you all survived. Did he try to make this your new family pet? I too am loving this weather.
ReplyDeleteGAAARRROOOSSSS!!! I hate spiders. Always have always will! That would have been one I would have killed and then hit 100 times afterwards to make sure it was dead and if any creepy crawly babies might have been on it they die too. YUCK! I shivered when I saw it! YUCK, YUCK, YUCK!!! My 2nd thought... this looks huge. Is it really that big? Are you sure you are still in IA?
ReplyDeleteAhhhh Heeby Jeebies now!!!!!!!! Eweeeeeeeeeeee
ReplyDeleteI totally shuddered when I saw that picture of the hairy creature! YUCK!! It sure does look like a tarantula!
ReplyDeletethat is AWFUL! i don't think i woudl have had the courage to go in, get my camera, and take a photo!
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding me? I think I would have had to call in a professional if I saw something like that. Then again, we don't get spiders like that around here, so it's not that I am THAT nuerotic :)
ReplyDeleteEwww!!! Ew EW Ew!!!
ReplyDeleteI HATE spiders!!!! I would have DIED!!! I love that you got the camera and got the picture! Something I would have done too!
ReplyDeleteOn a side note: I am looking at getting a wide angle lens do you have any suggestions that are mid range in price? I have a cannon 40D
Oh. my. stars. I would have freaked. I love summer too. Luckily, we have tons of lizards around here that help keep the spider population under control. I just got a text this morning from my sil in Utah. It's snowing there. Crazy isn't it?
ReplyDeletesweaty stinky people come to mind when i think of the lovely summer days! i would like to have them exterminated as well. ;)
ReplyDelete~ash's mum
That thing would totally freak me out!!! I love the heat over the cold myself (which is why my living in Connecticut still puzzles me!) Enjoy the warmth and three cheers for your Little Man. Superstition says that you're not supposed to kill spiders because they bring "good luck" but if I saw that furry thing I'd take the risk!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day! -- Dawn
I would've closed the door and ran back inside screaming!! I HATE spiders and snakes!
ReplyDeleteMy first thought is, you took a picture??? lol We are trained so well. I personally would have been hanging from the ceiling.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I am not afraid of spiders...usually. That thing is freaking me the freak out!!!! Almost as bad as the water moccasin in my driveway this week. Sheesh.
ReplyDeleteOMG! That thing is huge!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!!!!!! That is the scariest spider I have seen outside of a James Bond film!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by my place. I am definitely in for following Project Alicia. I love that!
Have a great week.
:-)
Traci
ok, I know this spider looks really scary but imagine what I have to go through in Florida. I open up my door to find snakes, scorpions (who sometimes makes it into my house), geckos, armadillos and the famous alligators! I already had to call the alligator trappers twice since February! Aaaagghhhh!
ReplyDeleteIck, Ick, Ick, ICK! I hate spiders! Hate 'em, hate 'em, HATE 'em!
ReplyDeleteI seriously would've freaked out and started crying!!! Scary!!! Aren't they supposed to be locked up in cages? Not roaming about wherever they like, it's just not right!
ReplyDeleteMy heart actually jumped when I saw that picture. I can't imagine having to handle dealing with that thing. I certainly wouldn't have had the presence of mind to take a picture! You are a true blogger. :)
ReplyDeleteEek! That would've creeped me out. Now, I have a serious question for you...did you scream like a wild banshee? Because if you did, it's okay to admit it. I would've! lol Insects are one of the few things I hate about summer. Happy exterminating Lish! lol
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by earlier. I hope your week is off to a great start. Have a great day and I'll see you around the blogosphere and Twitter! :)
Kristi, Live and Love...Out Loud
@TweetingMama
No words came to my mind-- just a giant *GASP*
ReplyDeleteYeah! That is a hairy little bugger ...yuck!
ReplyDeleteOH< MY! I would die! YIKES!
ReplyDeleteHurray for little boys! They come handy once in a while don't they? ;)
ReplyDeleteOh my, just the picture gives me the heeby jeebys! I would have FREAKED out if I found that guy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for planting THAT nightmare in my brain. LOL Seriously, I still have nightmares about a movie I saw 15 years ago, and you're showing me this gigantic furry spider?!
ReplyDeleteForget it. I couldn't sleep or put on a pair of shoes after that sight.
ReplyDeleteOh.My.Gosh. That thing is HUGE! I'm absolutely arachnophobic and that picture's definitely not helping.
ReplyDeleteThanks for making my skin crawl!! Ugh yuck! We have small spiders here and I still have a bug guy. He is my favorite person! hehe
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOODNESS THAT THING SHOULD HAVE BEEN PUT TO SLEEP!! I can not believe it, I would have not been happy. Ick I hate spiders how nasty!!!
