Ever have one of those? As much as you’d like to play super mom and wear 12 hats and have a gourmet meal on the table at 5 sharp, your energy is zapped before the kids even make it out the door and you have to dig deep to muster the determination to even attempt the first of the 103 things on the to-do list. It is in fact a kraft macaroni and cheese kinda day.
I’ve had several of these lately. I was feeling slightly guilty until Poof! I had the most amazing earth shattering epiphany. Drum roll please… I suddenly realized that they don’t care and a couple mac & cheese nights won’t kill em. So, throw in a vitamin and call it good.
My to-do lists seem to be breeding and taking on new life forms of their own. As much as I’d like to be Martha-esque or have renowned super powers, I am but an imperfect, flawed human with unrealistic expectations.
Notes to self:
1. Time to dial that down a notch or two.
2. It's ok to have some kraft mac & cheese kinda days.
I am speechless after seeing that video clip....I just can't believe they posted it on youtube!
ReplyDeleteWe have those Kraft Macaroni and Cheese days here, too, except ours is usually grilled cheese sandwich days instead. If I don't get my bottom in gear and get off of the computer then we will be having one of those tonight!
lol. I know what you mean about having unrealistic expectations of myself.
ReplyDeleteI always stress about providing my baby the best foods she can eat, but then again, I don't always have the energy to plan and plan and make all the right decisions. Sometimes those not so perfect days need to be thrown in for sanity sakes.
Being perfect, super mom sounds great in theory, but it always ends up with mama going crazy. lol
Thanks for the laugh and visiting my blog :)
Have a wonderful day!
Um, the guy didn't have pants on, now did he?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chuckle!
Go ahead & make it a Kraft night -- it won't kill 'em!
Oh, I love mac and cheese. I think it is great comfort food. It makes me wish I had some in the house now.
ReplyDeleteUm, weirdest video clip ever. That really creeps me out!
ReplyDeleteThat's funny! Michael just asked me to make mac n cheese not too long before I read this post, lol. I don't really care for Mac n cheese and Mike HATES it when that's what's for dinner. If you can get away with it hey yea, for you!
ReplyDeleteThat guy on the toilet, EWWWW! Who puts towels that close to a toilet, too?
Who does that? But it was pretty funny!
ReplyDeleteYep, have those days all the time! Love the video!
ReplyDeleteOh my.... {giggle}
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched the video yet--my little one is in the next room. But yay for mac and cheese--I love it!
ReplyDeletehow unnecessary and disturbing!
ReplyDeleteI think we all have those areas of our lives that we'd like to do better in and come up short most of the time. I have too many to count, actually! On the dinner front, tonight I served tater tots, despite trying to be very committed to avoiding packaged foods when I can. Oh, and the kids had McD's for lunch. I just couldn't deal.
ReplyDeleteOh that was funny - and amazing - a man who can manage two things at once! I have the rubbish food days even when there's only me and he to feed so hats off to all you moms!
ReplyDeleteToss some broccoli into the mac & cheese and don't feel any guilt!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a flawed human with unrealistic expectations too! I love that you added the bit about the vitamin. lol Too funny! It's totally okay to have mac and cheese days. We certainly do around here. Being a mom is hard work. We're pulled in a million different directions all day and we need a break sometimes.
ReplyDeleteLet me know next time you plan a mac and cheese night. I'll bring a couple of blue boxes over! lol Have a great night.

PS Sorry I missed the video.
My recent epiphany has been this: I can not be the perfect mom, I can only be the perfect me, and since my name is definitely NOT Martha Stewart, I say "Bring on the mac and cheese!" LOL
ReplyDeleteYou have no idea how much I wish I had some Kraft mac and cheese right now! Sometimes the simplest, most unnatural things are the best!
ReplyDeleteMy son loves Kraft Mac and Cheese! It's a prize that he will do anything for. At our house love comes in a blue box.
