Gigi at Kludgymom is the brains behind this brilliant idea.
So, without further ado, let's begin this VIRTUAL DETOX. Ahem...
(And be forewarned: It's been quite a week here.)
To depressing movies that wreak havoc on my emotional state. Do you not know that I am a fragile flower? And struggle with insomnia without any help from you.
To insurance companies that refuse to pay for out of network providers even when they are the only one of their kind in town. And their ridiculous ploy to confuse by changing their policies every other week, making it impossible to ever really know your own plan. And could you please make one card per family? My wallet is bursting at the seams already.
To skin conditions, and more specifically, pityriasis alba that prevents the skin from accepting pigment, causing my beautiful baby to be made fun of by other mean little girls. It is not her fault. Bugger off.
To money. I hate you. I hate that you are so popular these days. Everyone wants you and there is never enough of you to go around.
To restaurants that keep the AC so cold in the summer that you have to resort to buying hot chocolate to prevent from shivering to death.
To fast food employees that say gross things about your onion ring selection while you are ordering. And then continue to talk about how it tastes and smells like BO in spite of the fact that you are not saying anything and are obviously grossed out. Eew. Grow up.
To the word mom that was used 284 times today. Ok, maybe not. But it certainly feels like it. I understand that is my name and all, but come on. I just need a vacation from that word for like one day. But I’d take an hour. Please?
To those ridiculous machines that make you press a 1 if you speak English. Really? I live in the US of A. Isn't that our first language here? Why must you ask me every time?
And lastly,
To this funk that I am in… it is sunny outside and there is absolutely nothing to feel this crappy about. Knock it off already. Snap out of it. It’s a holiday weekend and you heart holidays? Remember?
ALL OF YOU-- FLIP OFF!!!
Ok, Much better. I feel like I might just survive the weekend.
Now it's YOUR turn. What is bugging you these days? If you are in need of a great vent, try Friday Flip-Offs. It's free and so therapeutic and I'm sure you already have plenty of material. Give it a go! Then stop by the other FFOs. They are so entertaining and sure to bring some good gut rolling laughs.
Yes, you DO heart holidays!! No flip-off there!
ReplyDeleteMom...that one word that can bring tears to your eyes said in the right context, but sometimes make you want to scream if you hear it ONE MORE TIME today!!
I always think that English should be the default, and you should press another number to change to something different! I get so tired of pressing all those buttons anymore....and don't get me started on those menus that you have to speak to! Oh, there's a flip-off right there!
I'm in a funk too! It must be in the air.
ReplyDeleteyep! I'm with you on the restaurants being so cold in the summer. I constantly carry a sweater around to restaurants and malls in the summer. I hope you get out of your funk so that you can enjoy your holiday weekend!
ReplyDeleteSorry you're in a funk, I was a couple of weeks ago but luckily it's gone now. It's a horrible feeling. I know you love holidays so hopefully this weekend will help you feel a bit better.
ReplyDeleteThat's rough on your daughter that other kids are being mean. They can be great but sometimes they're just plain nasty.
Hey Alicia sending you hugs both to keep you warm and rid you of your funk. Sorry too that people are so mean to your little girl, trust it will make her stronger. I'm with you on money - definitely the root of all evil - the best things in life are free. Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteAfter visiting your blog, A couple of times, I have thought that my alter ego escaped and lived in Iowa. Today I was almost sure that you and I are the same person...but then I scrolled down and saw you in a swimsuit and was quickly reminded that I don't quite look that great. But funny thing is that if I had to scribble my flip offs today that they would be much the same. I swear I am joining in in the next couple of weeks! And funk...I'm with ya like a pair of old running shoes...I was thinking today that my blog wasn't quite reflecting my mood with the name Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice...something more like Funky Old Lima beans and Day Old Cherios! Thanks for the daily laugh!
ReplyDeleteok, i'm new to linky so think i must have done something wrong while posting the FFO. any way i can delete myself?...from the face of the earth?? such an embarassment! >.<
ReplyDeletei agree with your FFO to the skin conditions! oh yes big FFO!!
~ash's mum
If all the mean people would get lost, our lists would all be shorter! No more teasing, no more criticizing your food choices, etc.
ReplyDeleteI agree about insurance companies. I miss the days when they gave you a booklet of benefits, and they didn't change constantly. With the plan we have now (and don't get me wrong: I'm grateful to have it at all), we can't even access benefits information online. We have to CALL every time we have a question about whether something is covered. What a time-waster--for everyone.
Hope you feel brighter soon, so you can enjoy the holiday weekend!
that is quite the list, Lish. I am right there with you on nearly all of them. WHAT UP with the server trash talking your food? What kind of tip did you leave?
ReplyDeleteI always freeze in restaurants...it's really bad here because the humidity is off the charts so a/c is always blasting everywhere. sucks!
hope you have a better weekend!!!
Awesome Flip offs as usual! That fast food employees sounds like crap! Sorry to hear that, girl! Oh and I can totally relate I've been in this funk too for a few days. I think aunt flo' is right around the corner. Gah!
ReplyDeleteI hate cold restaurants!!! I hate planning to wear jeans and a long sleeve shirt when it is 90 out but I know that I will freeze if we step foot in a restaurant. Sorry you are in a funk and I couldn't imagine dealing with insomnia! I feel for you there, girl! I hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteMom is an amazing name makes us smile some days and other days I totally agree with you makes you want to PULL YOUR HAIR OUT and scream please stop! I'm sorry about the mean kids - seriously, why are kids so mean!! Why? I don't get it because even at 4 I try to teach my daughter the right and wrong. But kids have always been mean even back in my day. Money - it's just bad all around - just all around evil. When you have it you want more and when you don't have enough you need it!? Uggh, keeping my fingers crossed the this economy can find a turn around for all of us! Have a Happy 4th of July weekend!
ReplyDeleteI so relate to these. I'm so sick of hearing the word mom today and most days. Mean girls suck. And there is never enough money.
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteThere is an award waiting for you over at my blog. Check it out!
Ha! I've never done a "Friday Flip-Off" but I think I'm going to today!
ReplyDeleteGreat flip off! So with you on the restaurants who keep it like a meat freezer in the dining area! WTH? And I joked the other day and said I was chaning my name from Mom...maybe to Dad!!
ReplyDeleteI hate money too. And I'm sorry you are in a funk. I had a day or two like that this week. it sucks! HUGS!!!
ReplyDeleteThere are so many of these that I agree with. Money, yes. Insomnia, I suffer. Your poor baby girl, that sucks. :-( I hope you got it all off your chest and can have a great, fun filled, funk free weekend!!
ReplyDeleteWell, you know I love your flip offs! I'm flipping all of those things off to show my support of you!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite though? The "Press 1 for English"...I'm 1000000% behind you on that one!!
I just saw a derm today - had a lil spot that needs to be sent away for analysis. anyway, she also gave me a prescription for a skin condition. this one your lil baby has? Well the other girls are total mean girls. jeez.
ReplyDeleteis it wrong that i snorted at "fragile flower?" regarding movies? sorry :p
oh those 'press...whatever' are pain. Sometimes there are too many options. When you've listen to all of them you can't remember which one was the right one!
ReplyDeleteIs it okay to join the blog hop even if I don't post 'Friday flip-off?
BLOGitse
I LOVE IT! You make me laugh! I must join this! BY THE WAY I LEFT YOU SOMETHING OVER ON MY BLOG!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you 110% of the way of these flips! I love the Friday virtual detox!!
ReplyDeleteI'm in a funk these days too... what gives? Holiday weekend is upon us, BBQ, beer, sun, summer, independence. What's not to be happy about?
I HATE being cold. HATE.IT.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the out of network provider thing. Have a great weekend
Sweetheart, I am a great grandma and, let me tell you, I tatally agree!! It is just sometimes the right thing to do ... flip off, I mean. Kinda' makes you feel better. You take care, Friend!
ReplyDeleteI started jumping through blogs and seriously started feeling better after reading all of these posts!!! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteSeems like lots of us are in the same "funk" -- I'm hoping mine will go away too. Hope you enjoy the weekend!!
ReplyDeleteAmen about the insurance companies! I thought we had incredible insurance until they denied coverage of the only pediatric urologist this side of mars. He only accepts Blue Shield...which is interesting since my insurance is Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Shouldn't that work?!
ReplyDeleteha, I always carry a sweater with me because nothing is worse than going from 100 degree heat to 50 degree cold. I get that it's hot outside but what the hell??
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry kids are picking on your daughter. I really hate that.
I love the Friday Flip-off! Its such a great idea! And I agree that insurance companies especially are a pain in the rear! I hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that you are in a funk. We've all been there. Thanks for sharing your vents. I would flip off those mean kids too! Jerks.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great holiday weekend!

ReplyDeleteAlicia,
ReplyDeleteI am with you on the funk. I've been dealing with that too. What the freak? Hang in there girl!
Oh, so true! I've never seen a Friday Flip-Off before but I love it! Totally agree with the "mom" thing...sometimes I feel like that's all I hear ALL DAY LONG! So glad I came across your blog...thanks for the laugh!!! :)
ReplyDeleteLove your flip-offs this week! I known what you mean about the A/C too! I was thinking the same thing tonight as I needed a jacket in the restaurant because they made it feel like Winter! Hope your funk improves soon!
ReplyDeleteI could write a huge long reply agreeing with you, and I'll agree with you, but spare you the long letter and just say that insurance sucks. Seriously. I hate dealing with it! You can never win with those companies.
ReplyDeleteLOL about the onion rings! And I hope you have a great 4th of July!
ReplyDeleteI got the answer. Hopefully next time goes better...I'm learning! :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great long weekend!
