But time to get back to schedules and early wake up calls and work.
This week has been a blur, what with registration, open houses, school shopping, hair cuts and trippin.

And lots of mixed emotions involving a little man and a new school. After petitioning twice, I have surrendered and this is the school he will be attending. I'm over it. But you can read more here.

As I look back on the previous school years I can't help but get just a little emotional... my babies are growing up entirely way too fast.
2008

2009

And it never seems to get easier. Every year without fail school brings with it an entire gamet of emotions as they exert yet another independent stride forward.
I blinked and my baby is in middle school...
"One of their first words is mama. They cling to you like no one else. You can't get anything done to save your life. They want to be held 24-7. You leave their sight for a second and their whole world crumbles as they begin fits of screaming until they can be safely reunited with you again. They wake up and want to be with you. They love to snuggle. Your name is like a broken record. When they start school they want you there at every opportunity. You're cool and they're proud to show you off to their friends. They like you." So, When did this happen? (You can also read more here.)
And if ya need a good cry, check out "The Gift of an Ordinary Day" by Katrina Kenison. Very touching. (Pause music on the bottom of blog.)
If you haven't seen me around the blogosphere don't worry, I'll be back soon. That is if I don't get eaten alive by mosquitoes or bears first.
While you are trippin, I'm heading to the Poconos for a pig roast. My dad's idea. Trust me, there will be a blog about it. Hope you aren't getting too eaten by the bugs!
ReplyDeleteschool... im feeling very torn over the whole thing. Excited for my guy to be starting kindergarten. and for the wee one to start preschool. and for me to have a day or two a week of some ME time.
ReplyDeletethen theres the other half... the half that cried last night because my babies are going to school.
*sigh*
Mine go back on Monday, and I am so bummed. Each summer has sped by faster than the last for me, and I think for them too. It feels a bit like a roller coaster you board in August and can't leave until June.....
ReplyDeleteI loved the pictures! This brought tears to my eyes, my kids aren't even close to going to school yet and I feel like time has flown by! I guess it really doesn't get easier! At least they think you are cool, I hope my boys think that too when they get older! Hope you are having fun on your rafting trip!
ReplyDeleteAwwww... I'm not a parent, so I can only imagine! But I can definitely say that I agree with you on needing a few more weeks of playtime :)
ReplyDeleteMy little guy starts preschool in a few weeks. I'm actually thrilled! He seems very ready and it doesn't seem that I can provide enough activities in the waking hours anymore to stimulate him.
ReplyDeleteHowever...I just started thinking last night...What if he has a really hard time? What if I do? {shockingly it hadn't crossed my mind yet!} Guess we'll see how it goes!
Your kids look so cute witht their backpacks and new haircuts :)
I love the pictures and I loved the Gift of an Ordinary Day (sigh), it's was so beautiful. When DID these babies grow huh.
ReplyDeleteThis is my last week of freedom before I am back in meetings and then after labor day? students are back here too!
ReplyDeleteSigh....
Going back over your old posts, you are really a beautiful person.
ReplyDeleteI wish I never started a blog, so I could just spend my time reading blogs like this.
But, then, if I hadn't started a blog, I'd never have met you, so...the ying and yang of it.
This is a beautiful blog. I hope you never stop. All your posts would be marvelous at something like "Meditations for mothers."
I wish my blog were more like this.
Lish, this was really sweet. I love the photos of Little Man and Pokey through the years. So cute! My kids have yet to start school...because we're still living in a hotel. :( Sorry I've been MIA lately. I do think about you, but rarely get the chance to email. Hope you're having a blast white water rafting and all. lol
ReplyDeleteKristi, Live and Love...Out Loud
@TweetingMama
my baby is 7 months old and already growing up too fast...
ReplyDeleteAlicia, I love your photography, and I am really loving your scrapbook pages. Did you do these digitally or did you scan in scrapbook pages you made by hand? I liked the collage type photos on your last post, too. :)
