project alicia {dot} com

Yes, it's official. I am now projectalicia.com.

A blog for me. About me. And because of me.

Photobucket

Sound selfish? Conceited? Indulgent?

Well, by nature is that not what a blog is?

But if you knew me you would know that I am none of those things.

And if by chance you are a visual person, then you will enjoy it here. I best tell my stories via photos.

Photobucket
(Little Man caught this with his bare hands!)

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photos of the world around me.
Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photos of my family.
Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photos of our adventures.
Photobucket

As gross as they may be.
Photobucket

And yes, photos of me. Hubs and Little Man are acquiring quite the eye. But oft times I use the self timer or clicker.
Photobucket

No, I do not advocate climbing trees in heels- just in case you were wondering.
Photobucket

It has been a personal goal of mine to step in front of the camera more. To overcome insecurities. And to love myself as the flawed human I am. It is a work in progress.

I can say that I have been in more photos in the last couple years than my entire life put together if that tells you anything. Photography was difficult and expensive back in the day. Not to mention mom had no time what with her six kids to attend to. No hard feelings, but I am only now at 38 learning to become more comfortable in front of the camera.

And I may not tolerate the bugs and dirt quite as much as my family, but I certainly love to capture all that nature has to offer.
Photobucket

I just want to take a moment and welcome all of my new followers. And a special thanks to all of my loyal patrons who leave sweet, thoughtful words time and time again. You make this so much fun.

  1. *Like*!! All joking aside, I find that most of our family photos include everyone in the family... but me!! I'm always the one behind the camera instead of in front of it. I should make more of an effort to use that self timer myself!

    P.S. I love your photos!

  6. So inspired once again! I love the fish photo! Awesome pics, Lish! I have seen so much growth in you since I have "known" you. I hope you can see that and be very proud of it. Looks like you will be growing even more and I can't wait to follow more of your journey. You inspire me time and time again! I need to get my butt in gear and start working a little harder on myself! Thanks for the push!

  7. I am not a new follower. Actually, I have been a fan for quite sometime now & your photos never cease to amaze me. Sometimes even leaving me kind of breathless. Congrats on the new domain!! I hope to one day purchase my own.
If you do not mind me asking: what editing program do you use for your photos?
    Have a great day!

  12. I always enjoy looking at your photos. I would love to know how/what you use to edit them and how you get pictures of yourself. Do you take them or someone else? I find it hard to get in the picture unless I have my kids or someone take it for me and most of the time I look like i just rolled out of bed ; ) But I do think it is important to have pictures of yourself for you kids. I think they would cherish that as they got older.

  23. I guess people might assume when someone is beautiful like you that you would feel comfortable in front of the camera. I still don't like to have my picture taken, for a variety of reasons -- probably all irrational:)

Lovely blog -- enjoy your next step!

  24. Preach it sister - you embrace it all! And don't ever let any random stray weirdo comments put you off doing what you do so well! It IS hard becoming comfortable in front of the camera and I think it takes a lifetime of practice - you never REALLY love it, just grow a little more accepting of yourself over time :-)

Despite what anyone else may say, I love that this blog is all about you. I'm always inspired by you, and you're worth getting to know!

  25. I love the photo of just you under the tree. You have gorgeous hair. Congrats on the domain!

And your blog is one of my FAVOURITES. Like, I feel NO OBLIGATION to check in and read, if ya know what I mean???
    Always worth a visit.
Yay for you and getting in the photos more - me too.
    Though you look way cuter!!
    xx

  27. I've so enjoyed watching you grow and transform over the last year, right along with your blog. I'm so proud of you for always taking the high road and refusing to allow negative comments to break down what you've created and poured your heart into. Keep on doing what you're doing because you do it so well. Congrats again on becoming projectALICIA.com. :)
Oh, and thanks for being such a sweet friend!

  28. congrats on your dot com and on your new design! Like it!

I'm trying to get infront of the camera more, too- it's hard!

  29. Alicia, you look so beautiful, and you know it, don´t you?
Besides, your photographic skills make me green with envy - your pictures aren´t only technically great, but always express emotion and an atmosphere that stirs something in me. They would make great bookcovers for my writing projects - because sometimes I feel like you manage to express things in one picture that I need 500 pages of writing to express ;)
So, congrats to your new adress over here :)

  30. Yeah for it being official!!!!

  32. I am pretty new here, but I have loved it so far! Glad I stumbled on your corner of the world here :)

  33. I have loved seeing how you have blossomed as an adult that accepts herself with flaws and all. Sometimes we are our own hardest critics. You probably grew up in a family, like mine, that emphasized hard work and no complaining. All that is good till you have to suppress what is you inside. The thing that amazes me is how much younger my looked at my own age, as I grow older. Considering that she had 3 kids, worked full time as a waitress and ran a "perfect" household I often wonder what her trick was. I know that I have grown up feeling flawed in comparison, but working on accepting me for me.

  34. Congrats on your own space just for you. It's so awesome of you to do this!

    Your photos are amazing.

And, so glad you are stepping in front of the camera more. I actually started a Mommy and Me link up on, you guessed it, Mondays to have a post with a picture of mommy and the kiddo/s because we aren't in them enough.
