WW: "About" Project Alicia: The Girl Behind the Blog

Been working on a new "About" Page, possibly the hardest task to date.

I am my own worst critic and never like myself in photos. But one of my most time consuming and ever evolving projects is me...

Photobucket(Photos taken by Little Man.)

I am a 39 year old mother to two, wife of nearly 20 years and recent transplant to the beautiful state of South Carolina. 5 foot tall, 95 lbs on a good day, and built with an XS frame which makes clothes shopping something of a chore. I am driven by bargains, but never scrimp on a good pair of jeans. I always choose cute shoes over comfort... I love layering clothes, repurposing and accessorizing with simple pieces. I am not ashamed to wear kid's clothing or thrift finds. And am always up for trying new product lines! (Wink, wink.) You can read more about me here.

PhotobucketSee if you can find how many times I wore the same jeans or black shoes? Nothing better than favorite go to staple pieces. Ha.

  1. Lish, I love your "about page"! You look great and much younger than 39! I wish I had size xs. I think I have to take the "s" away and put a "l" behind the x. lol
I´m glad you like your new home.

    Have a wonderful summer!

  2. It's a mystery to me Lish, why you would be hard on yourself looks-wise? My goodness, you are super cute.
    I envy your teensy-ness.
I think if I stood next to you, I'd feel like a giant. But I'd still love the chance to stand next to you, even though i would suffer by comparison.
Have fun working on that About Me Page!

  3. You have nothing to worry about, you always look stunning in photos :) And your little man has some great photographic skills there!! I really need to get in front of the camera more, I'm doing Project 52 and 366 this year and I'm only in a couple of shots so far, I must fix that before the end of the year!

  8. Being in front of the camera is harder than being behind the camera in my experience :) Your "project" looks good!!

  10. These look great!! I'm trying to get over my fear of being in pictures so that I can do some What I Wore outfit posts, but it's so hard to find a picture of me that isn't too horrible to post. I've managed to do one outfit post so far!

I would love to stand next to you so I could feel tall at 5ft 1 inch!

  11. You are GORGEOUS mama! Love this post <3

  12. You should post more pics like these ones. You have great fashion sense and you are just plain beautiful. Also, I want those Via Spiga shoes. And the white capris. Oh, and that sweater from T.J. Maxx...

  13. I need to rehash my About page too. Can I borrow Little Man to take some shots of me? He did great!

  14. The whole ensemble on the top right…oooo I want that! I’m so jealous…I do not having any fashion sense at all (seriously – the office I work in is usually freezing so every day I wear slacks, a cami, and a different sweater). Keep posts like this coming…maybe some of us fashion challenged can learn a thing or two.

  15. Alica, you are so beautiful and so much more than the clothes you wear. I see you through what you see in your camera lens, if only you could photograph yourself, I think you'd be happier with the results, becasue I'm confident you'd be showing us more of who you are.

  16. You look awesome and darling clothes you wear!! Great photography too, thanks for the linky today!!

  17. Your gorgeous!!! I don't know if I would ever be brave enough to do an "about me" post. It would probably be good though because I love finding out more about the bloggers themselves.

    Happy WW!

  30. You, my dear, are stunning and sassy. All of those photos are beautiful. I'm in awe of your ability to pick stylish shoes over comfort. Once upon a time, before I had a 4-year old and a 1-year old, I loved a good pair of heels. Now, there's just no way that I can chase my boys around in anything but flats.

  31. Awesome photos as usual. I really enjoy seeing your work. I like the vintage camera used in the photos too. I do remember the "flash bulb days" too. They were sometimes hot too.

  32. I think we are all our own worst critics. You are a doll and look fantastic in every shot.

  33. Absolutely gorgeous! You're just a tiny little thing, aren't you? :)

  34. LOVE all these pictures of you!

I am totally guilty of not taking pictures of myself. I did actually have a photographer take pictures of me recently, so hopefully I will get new headshots up on my blog soon!

  41. You're so beautiful!!!

I wish I could fit in XS clothes too! :D

  42. Alicia, you are absolutely beautiful!! And you look wonderful for 39!! Your little man did a great job with those photos.

I think us women are our own worst critics. I have 2 very tiny built (but relatively tall) daughters - one 5'6" and the other 5'7" BUT both very very tiny in size for their height and both wish they looked different!! I on the other hand am quite tall 5'9" (tallest woman in my family for generations) and quite a lean build but I look at myself and see flaws I wish I could change. I believe we are all a work in progress.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Pretty pictures. Did your son take them all?

I'm quite the opposite of you. Tall. Very tall. I used to wish I was a foot shorter. Now I have a son who is 6'5" so I'm not so obvious when I'm out with him. ;) I love how God made us all so unique.

  44. I feel shabby after visiting here now. Hehehe... I guess I need to go pick out something super cute from my closet. I find that nice clothes that fit really well help chase off morning blues too. Makes me feel productive to get up and get dressed in the morning. I think that's because this is the first time that I am not expecting or having a newborn around like we usually do every two years. Getting dressed used to be a chore. HAHA!

    Take care,
    Dee

  51. Alicia

Sounds like we have a similar problem. I, too, am little and find shopping can be more a chore than fun. I have a terrible time finding shoes that are small enough! The kids section can be a lifesaver.

Neat photos of you! The one of you in the field smelling wild flowers is my favorite.

  52. Awesome shots! I HATE pictures of myself, and talking about myself! Love your taste in clothes!! Thanks for linking up with The BOAT!
